What does 2 hour and 4 hour time limit free parking mean?

·         There is a 2 hour time limit on the following streets in the downtown: James, Seguin, Miller, Gibson, Mary, McMurray and Bay Street. And there is a 4 hour time limit in all municipal public parking lots with the exception of the Town Dock parking lot.  A vehicle can be parked in a designated parking space for a maximum of 2 hours or 4 hours.  

 

I am shopping downtown, where do I park if I need to park longer?

·         There is long term parking available: Bobby Orr Community Centre; Great North Road adjacent to the Fitness Trail, Bay Street near the Stockey Centre, Church Street and Gibson Street south of Seguin.

 

I am an employee downtown, where do I park all day?

·         A monthly parking permit can be purchased for $30.00/month at the municipal office for these designated parking lots: St Andrews, Miller, and Gibson Lot. Displaying a parking permit will allow a vehicle to remain parked over the 4 hour time limit in these parking lots.    

·         There is long term parking available: Bobby Orr Community Centre; Great North Road adjacent to the Fitness Trail, Bay Street near the Stockey Centre, Church Street and Gibson Street south of Seguin.

·         You can request permission from a private property owner to meet your parking needs, as well.

 

I am a contractor or a person requiring temporary long term parking for a specific reason; i.e., to complete work on my business, complete a delivery or host an event, what do I do?

·         A daily parking permit can be purchased for $8.00/day at the municipal office.  There is an application process and upon approval, this would allow a vehicle to park over the time limit for a specific reason.  Please contact the Bylaw Enforcement Dept.

 

I received a parking ticket for parking over the time limit, what do I do?

·         As a patron of the downtown: If your errands or doctor appointment, etc. take longer than the designated parking time limit and you received a parking ticket you can complete a "Request to Review a Parking Ticket" form and your ticket may be cancelled.   Submit with the request, a copy of your receipt or information pertaining to your visit downtown. You will receive notification of the status of the cancellation within 5 working days. Request forms are also available from the merchants.

·         As an employee of the downtown: Options are on the back of the parking ticket. Please note: that fines will escalate if you have received more than two over the time limit parking tickets.

 

How much is a parking ticket for parking over the time limit?

·         To act as a deterrent, over the time limit parking tickets are $55.00/early payment and $80.00 after 15 days of issuance.
